By the way, no Zion enthusiast will say that spending 5 hrs in Zion is sufficient. But it is still worth doing even for short periods, in my opinion. It all comes down to expectations. GC is a longer drive so I wouldn't advise that as a day trip. Edited: 9:34 am, January 27, 2023.
My concern is that the Springdale shuttle always begins an hour after the Zion Shuttle begins. We plan to drive to Zion the first day, with two nights booked at Zion NP Lodge. 11/18 one night in Bryce. Re: A couple tips on Zion (and some dissapointment..) kfpanda1, there was a rock slide on the road. I'm not sure when or how long it lasted, but that may have been one reason the east entrance was closed. They also closed it when they felt the traffic in the park was too heavy during the memorial day weekend.
